Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)Q./ What is a DREDGE?Answer: It is a machine that is used to suck sand off the bottom of a lake and then pumps it to a designated spoil area. Q./ How much is the cost per cubic yard? Answer: Price is based on the type of material, how deep the cut is and the distance to the spoil area. Q./ What is a SPOIL AREA or a FILL SITE? Answer: It is a designated area to put the dredged material.
Answer: The 10 inch dredge digs about 300 to 350 cubic yards per hour on a 1500 foot line. Q./ What is a PIPE LINE? Answer: The PIPE going from the back of the DREDGE to the SPOIL AREA Q./ What does it take to maintain a SPOIL AREA? Answer: Earth dykes are built to hold the pumped material and allow the water to run back to the area that is being dug. Q./ What kind of equipment is needed to maintain a SPOIL AREA? Answer: A Bulldozer or Backhoe to build dykes and maintain them. Q./ Where do you get PERMITS? Answer: If it is a private lake, the COUNTY PERMITS. If it is a Stream, a River or a government owned body of water, then it would be a PERMIT from the State, Army Corps of Engineers, EPA, etc. Q./ How long does it take to move in and SET UP for DREDGING? Answer: 10 to 14 days after a contract is finalized. Q./ Do you fix LAKE SLOPES with grass, etc. Answer: It would be according to what the customer specifies in the contract.
